Thanks for visiting my homepage. I am a recent graduate with a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems as well as an avid fan of music, art and literature. I also enjoy staying abreast to the latest tech trends and hardware as well as world news and political events. Please feel free to look around and let me know what you think.
Haruki Murakami is a Japanese novelist, winner of the Gunzou Literature Prize for budding writers for his first novel Hear The Bird Sing (1980), the Noma Literary Prize for New Writers for his trilogy of novels Hear The Bird Sing, Pinball 1973 (1980), and A Wild Sheep Chase (1982), known as The Trilogy of the Rat, and most recently the Yomiuri Literary Prize.
Murakami has also lent his expertise to translating several American novels into Japanese. His books and novels have been translated into over 30 languages. Murakami's latest fiction After Dark was released last fall, his critically acclaimed novel The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle was the inspiration behind this website and our band as well.
The Wind-Up Birds...
Formed in the late 90's, The Wind-Up Birds (a.k.a DWFM) are a group of musicians and friends who have come together from across the country to express their love of music and enthusiasm for learning and performing with each other. Starting in 1999 with little to no musical expertise, we have recently expanded our group to include several new members.
Much of our music is experimental, recorded live and usually in one take with no rehearsal. It is not necessarily polished for production's sake, so it may not be what you are used to, but hopefully you enjoy what you hear. The main purpose of posting music clips is to provide access for fellow band members, but anyone is free to listen.
Our influences are varied, but some of our biggest include: the Beatles, the Pixies, the Smiths, =weezer=, the Black Keys, Segovia, Howlin' Wolf, and the Wu-Tang Clan.
About my Development Server...
This is my development server, so feel free to look around, but don't be surprised if you come a cross a broken link or two. I am in the process of learning PHP, MySQL, apache, XHTML, XML and RSS as I go and hope to have everything buttoned up pretty well by the end of the summer. In addition to web development, I will also be studying Cisco networking and IP telephony quite rigorously as it is my new found profession. Enjoy what little content I currently have and don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
If you are having problems viewing this web page, such as graphical corruption or hard to read output, this is usually due to an older browser versions' lack of support for modern HTML and XHTML formatting. Please update your browser as it will be more secure, faster, and give you access to more content.
This site is currently being tested on Firefox2, Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, Netscape Navigator, Avant browsers. Sorry all you IE5/6 users, I know there are a few PNG's floating around that are giving you blue boxes, but I just don't feel like dealing with that nightmare just yet. I will take this opportunity to suggest an upgrade to a more modern browser. Newer browsers are generally more secure and will allow you to access more and better looking content in general. You can find detailed page requirements and links to newer browser versions here.
This site was designed using the latest World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) guidelines for XHTML and CSS and has been validated as a XHTML version 1.0 Strict/validated CSS document to ensure stability, security, and interoperability between different platforms and browsers (PC/Mac, cell phone, handheld, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Safari, etc...).
